Position Summary

Purpose:

To work as part of the Quality & Outcomes Management (Q&OM) Team to achieve high quality, cost-effective health care throughout the Texas Children's Hospital IDS and maintain necessary accreditation status for the organization (JCAHO, CMS, NCQA, and other agencies, as needed). To facilitate complex, cross-departmental strategic projects including but not limited to: Root Cause Analysis, Intense Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, and Six Sigma principles. To provide the leadership in developing and maintaining an effective Peer Review process.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is:
1) a working knowledge of JCAHO standards, CMS requirements;
2) medical staff rules and regulations;
3) utilization management;
4) case management;
5) organizational principles and practices;
6) a working knowledge of FMEA and RCA methods and techniques;
7) basic understanding of ISO 9000 and Six Sigma; and
8) working knowledge of basis statistics.

Also required is the ability to listen and communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the area of quality improvement and health care services. Incumbent must have the ability to take initiative in identifying problems that affect quality, independently problem-solve, cooperatively interact with a variety of people and departments, and work in a team environment.

Formal Education, License and Experience:

The formal education normally associated with completely satisfactory performance in this job is completion of an accredited school of nursing program, registered and currently licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas OR a B.S. or B.A. degree in a related area. . Must have at least (4) years experience in performance improvement, JCAHO accreditation, and project team management and facilitation or related experience. Six sigma knowledge and/or training, highly desirable. CPHQ certification highly recommended.

You will support the achievement of the quality and patient safety priorities through including quality assurance, quality management and quality improvement projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree (e.g., BA, BS, BSN, BSW) in a healthcare related field. Master's degree (e.g., MA, MS, MBA, MSN, MSW) or equivalent (e.g., CPA, PE, etc.) is preferred. CPHQ certification or eligibility for certification within 12 months and RN licensure is required. Must have five to seven years’ experience in an acute or post acute setting or office based clinical practice. Project management, knowledge and application of quality tools and methods, working knowledge of key quality and regulatory organizations (JCAHO, IHI, NAHQ, NCQA) and strong speaking and communication skills are required. Quality, management or supervisory experience is preferred
