In this position you will assist the CNO/COO in implementation of all aspects of the Quality Management Program, including the identification of opportunities to improve patient care, and will be responsible for the management, supervision and daily operation of the Quality Management Department. In addition, you will provide leadership and be a role model for the staff of the Quality Management Department and serve as a resource person for the hospital, Medical Staff, and other departments in areas to include Quality Assurance, Utilization Review, Infection Control, Discharge Planning/Social Services, Risk Management, and QIP. You will also participate in the education of hospital and Medical Staff in the Performance Improvement Program/methodology and current Joint Commission/TMF Federal requirements; assist in the Incident Report Program; review medical records according to criteria and outcome data identified; and promote positive Customer Service with internal and external customers.
Qualification and requirements for this position include:
BSN, Licensed RN in State of Texas or compact state are required. MSN or other Master's program in related field, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Management certification, BCLS certification preferred, 5 years clinical and 3 year of management experience preferred; 3-5 years experience in Quality Management desirable. In addition strong interpersonal skills, ability to adapt to change readily and function in a professional manner, knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding, basic computer skills and ability to grasp concepts of computers with training and experience, strong leadership and communication skills (written and verbal) desired. Knowledge of JCAHO standards, the accreditation process, data collection methods, medical record chart organization, documentation on forms, and universal order.

Conditions of Student-Preceptor-College Partnership
Preceptor Activities:
1. Implement academic and professional standards set forth in
the college handbook.
2. Immediately report to the instructor any student behaviors
that place the site at risk.
3. Monitor and report student performance according to course
criteria.
4. Notify instructor when student is at risk for failing or when
minimally acceptable performance is demonstrated consistently
by student.
5. Supervise students in the practicum setting.
6. Communicates with the administrators of departments that will
provide resources or administrative experience to students involved
in leadership roles.
7. Provide students with formative and summative evaluations
using the appropriate performance evaluations.
8. Understand the legal liability of the preceptor role.
Preceptors
can expect student to:
1. Meet with preceptor to clarify course objectives and focus
of practicum activities.
2. Assist preceptor to complete required documents associated
with preceptor role.
3. Generate a schedule with the preceptor consistent with the
preceptor’s
availability/schedule.
4. Before practicum begins, negotiate a procedure for contacting
the preceptor in case of absence.
5. Notify preceptors at the beginning of the day if they will
be absent for a scheduled clinical day due to illness or emergency.
6. Negotiate a policy with the preceptor, for making up time,
when possible, for any clinical absences.
7. Dress appropriately and behave in a professional manner at
all times in keeping with the standards set forth by Occupational
Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA).
8. Adhere to site dress code when specified.
9. Wear student identification badges, not work employee badges.
Preceptor
can expect clinical faculty to:
1. Provide them with course description and objectives, and the
required number of hours required for the term of practicum.
2. Clarify college rules regarding preceptors and preceptor – student
arrangements.
3. Provide information about the best times to reach the faculty
member, and phone numbers and email addresses for key faculty
members.
4. Consult on student or partnership problems that affect student
progression in clinical coursework.
5. Collaborate on creating appropriate experiences that prepare
students for success as entry-level health services employees.
6. Guide preceptor in the student evaluation process.
7. Provide feedback on their performance as preceptors.
8. Formally recognize the preceptor’s role in the education
partnership through a variety of mechanisms.
